Watch the leading zero
Some Spain postal codes begin with a zero, such as 01001. Spreadsheets and some web forms silently drop it, turning 01001 into 1001 — which is either a different place or not a valid code at all. Format the column as text before pasting codes into a spreadsheet.
How an address is written in Spain
This is the order Spain's postal service expects. Square brackets mark what you replace.

Look up a specific address
For the code covering one particular street or building, Spain's postal service publishes an official finder: www.correos.es/contenido/13-MenuRec2/04-MenuRec24/1010_s-CodPostal.asp. It is authoritative and kept current, which third-party copies often are not.
