Watch the leading zero
Some Colombia postal codes begin with a zero, such as 050001. Spreadsheets and some web forms silently drop it, turning 050001 into 50001 — which is either a different place or not a valid code at all. Format the column as text before pasting codes into a spreadsheet.
How an address is written in Colombia
This is the order Colombia's postal service expects. Square brackets mark what you replace.

COLOMBIA
A postal code is optional in Colombia addresses — mail is deliverable without one, though including it speeds up sorting. The department is also required.
Look up a specific address
For the code covering one particular street or building, Colombia's postal service publishes an official finder: www.codigopostal.gov.co. It is authoritative and kept current, which third-party copies often are not.
